COMMUNICATIONS

Communication is the key to all union activities - from meetings to field work to strike actions to community outreach. But effective communication planning is often left to the last minute. This course focuses on the various ways union leadership, shop stewards and rank and file can build a communications program on any budget so their messages reach fellow members, employers, media and the public.

The course focuses on methods of communication, including verbal and non-verbal communication and the ways we speak with and communicate our messages to others. It also focuses on utilizing social media and apps such as Slack and Discord that are beneficial for organizing and member communication.
