Advanced Political Engagement:
Winning for Workers

This course builds on the introductory "Political Engagement for Union Members" course by diving deep into designing winning campaigns to enact worker friendly policies and to elect worker friendly policy makers. Each student will spend two days developing a detailed and actionable campaign plan to advocate for the enactment of a pro-worker policy and two days developing a detailed and actionable campaign plan for helping elect a pro-worker candidate. These plans can be designed at either the local government or state government level (federal lobbying and elections are outside the scope of this course). The plans can de developed either as an individual or with a partner or small group from the same city or state. Your instructors will provide guidance and feedback throughout the development process and will be developing their own example plans for actual implementation alongside the students.
Prerequisite for the course is either prior completion of the "Political Engagement for Union Members" course or prior experience lobbying elected officials AND working on an election campaign (need not be paid lobbying and election work - release staff or volunteer work is sufficient).

This course is taught by Amanda Frickle and Jason Hudson.
